The Studios is MASS MoCA’s artist and writers residency program situated within the museum’s factory campus and surrounded by the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. Operated by MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists program, the residency runs year-round and hosts up to twelve artists at a time. Artists of any nationality can apply for stays of 2-8 weeks. Applications for Winter/Spring 2022 are now open.


Loghaven Artist Residency

Loghaven Artist Residency’s mission is to serve artists by providing them with a transformative residency experience and continued post-residency support. The residency is located on ninety acres of woodland in Knoxville, Tennessee. Artists live in five historic log cabins that have been both rehabilitated and modernized to create an ideal setting for reflection and work, and they have access to new, purpose-built studio space. All Loghaven Fellows are awarded stipends to support the creation of new work during the residency.

Westobou Artist in Residence
Augusta, GA

The Westobou Artist in Residence program awards free studio space to 1 emerging or mid-career Augusta-based visual artists for 1 year (Jan-Dec 2022) at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art (GHIA). The program provides a stipend for research, tools and supplies to build a body of work for an exhibition at Westobou Gallery in the beginning of 2023. In collaboration with the GHIA, the artist-in-residence will teach a year-long workshop series to community members. Submissions are due on July 30, 2021 and the selected artist will be notified in August 2021.


Platforms Fund: Artists Grants 2021-22
New Orleans, LA

The Platforms Fund is a collaborative effort of AntennaAshé Cultural Art Center, and Junebug Productions to provide support for the development and presentation of self-organized artistic projects in and around New Orleans. The Platforms Fund seeks to emphasize New Orleans’ historical characteristics of creativity, collaboration, and resiliency while pushing the boundaries of where community engagement and the dissemination of creative ideas can intersect. 


The Current Art Fund Grants for Artists in Tennessee

The Current Art Fund seeks to support visual artists in creating dynamic, public-facing, and non-commercially viable projects that are essential to the fabric of the contemporary visual art scene across the state of Tennessee. The fund annually disburses grants totaling $60,000 to Tennessee-based artists 21 years of age and older in support of project expenses.


Grant Opportunity for Southern Artists from National Performance Network
Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi

The National Performance Network’s Southern Artists for Social Change program will provide $25,000 project grants to artists and culture bearers of color living, working, and engaging in social change in urban, rural, and tribal communities of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.


Ruth and Harold Chenven Foundation 2021 Grant
New York, NY
Deadline: July 31, 2021

The Ruth and Harold Chenven Foundation gives annual awards of $1500 to individual artists living and working in the United States in support of a visual art or fine craft project. The Foundation does not accept film, video, performance art, or music submissions. An independent jury of artists and art professionals will judge the submissions and make its recommendations to the Foundation Board of Directors for final approval. In 2021, six (6) awards will be made. Previous winners of a Foundation grant are not eligible for a second award.


Tusen Takk Foundation

The Tusen Takk Foundation is a remote solo-occupancy residency based in Northwest Michigan open to emerging and established visual artists, creative writers, and composers and offering solo residencies between three and eight weeks. Artists working in photography, printmaking, sculpture, and painting, as well as creative writers and composers are encouraged to apply. Residents are provided an honorarium of $625/week, housing with 24/7 private access to the studios, as well as access by appointment to the Founder’s library and photography collection. While in residence, artists are encouraged to engage with the arts community. Applications are due on July 15, 2021 for residencies between June 2022 and December 2023.


Seeds: Westobou’s Annual Juried Exhibition
Augusta, GA

Seeds is an annual juried exhibition of small works priced at $300 or less. Each year, a new juror selects 10-14 artists to show their work at Westobou Gallery during the holidays from November through December. Selections are made in August, giving artists a few months to create new works.


Spruill Center for the Arts and Spruill Gallery annual outdoor installation project: AMPLIFY

The AMPLIFY project selects a winning proposal for installation on the historic “Smoke House” on the Spruill Gallery grounds. The chosen artist receives premium visibility in the ever growing and expanding Atlanta Perimeter Business District with frontage on Ashford Dunwoody Road and a host of other benefits and prizes including:
A “Dunwoody Welcome Package” filled with local restaurant and business vouchers and discounts.
Proceeds of the sale of installation specific merchandise including collectible limited-edition prints.
Up to $1000 materials stipend.
A $5000 cash prize!


National Juried Exhibition at Sulfur Studios: Simulacra

Sulfur Studios invites artists working in all media to submit work to our Fall national Juried Art Exhibition Simulacra. For centuries, artists have explored reality through observation and imagination—however, it seems that now a shared reality is less tangible than ever. What is reality in this day and age? Sulfur Studios invites artists to share work that explores the past, present or future of the space between subjective perception and objective reality. Artists may submit up to four artworks for $25, Studio Supporters pay only $15 per four artworks.
