The human figure has been a subject for artists for thousands of years, grounding us in who we are individually and collectively. From ancient cave paintings to contemporary questions of identity, authorship and representation, documenting ourselves and capturing the likeness of others is deeply human. For this Supporter Call for Entry, artists are invited to submit figurative work in any medium. Whether you use traditional or alternative media, realism or abstraction, share work that contemplates the human form.


The Michael P. Smith Fund for Documentary Photography
New Orleans, Louisiana
Deadline: May 4, 2026

Created to honor the life and work of Michael P. Smith, the MPS Fund awards cash prizes and exhibition opportunities to Gulf Coast photographers (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia) whose work combines artistic excellence and a sustained commitment to a cultural documentary project.

This call has a $25 entry fee.


Center for Craft Teaching Artist Cohort
Asheville, North Carolina

Thirty mid-career craft artists who teach will receive $10,000 grants and join a 6-month cohort experience that supports their artistic and teaching career development with programs, mentorship, and peer-to-peer learning creating an enriching impact on the communities they engage, developing a network of teaching craft artists.


The Hopper Prize

The Hopper Prize is accepting submissions for Spring 2026 individual artist grants. They will be providing six grants totaling $13,000 USD. Two artists will each receive $4,500 and four artists will each recieve $1,000. All visual art media is eligible. Additional exposure is available via a 30-artist shortlist, online journal, and Instagram currently reaching over 160k.

The Studios of Key West: Peyton Evans Artist Residencies
Key West, Florida

The Studios of Key West, the premier arts organization at the Southernmost Point of the United States, offers a residency program for emerging and established artists and writers from around the world. We provide residencies to visual artists, writers, composers, musicians, media artists, performers, and interdisciplinary artists.

The program grants nearly 40 artists each year the time and space to imagine new artistic work, engage in valuable dialogue and explore island connections. The Studios’ residency program is community-based and built upon the hope that visiting artists will take inspiration from Key West’s rich artistic past and present, and will engage with—and be inspired by—the remarkable people and culture that surrounds them.


Trillium Arts: Fall 2026 Individual Artist Residencies
Mars Hill, North Carolina

Trillium Arts residencies offer secluded space for rejuvenation and creating in a peaceful, remote setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our location is ideal for an individual artist to complete an existing work, or develop and incubate new material. Our facilities in the fall months are best suited to the disciplines of literary arts, photography, visual arts, and arts administration.

Individual artists who do not require a rehearsal studio (such as writers and photographers) are encouraged to apply for a one week residency. Performing artists (such as choreographers and theater artists) are also welcome to apply, with the understanding that the Red Barn Studio is seasonal and availability is dependent on weather. There is ample land and outdoor space available for ideation and research.


Stove Works Artist Residency
Chattanooga, Tennessee
Applications open May 15, 2026

From February through November of each year, Stove Works’ Artist Residency invites eight Artists to live/work for one to three months at a time. The residency serves as a moment away from the rigamarole of life and an opportunity for Artists to take advantage of the dedicated time, space, resources, and community it has to offer. Six of the studios will be dedicated to practicing visual artists, one will be devoted to non-object-based practices, and one studio for off-site (family or local) residents. Stove Works have no expectations for how Artists use their time during the residency. This open call closes on June 15.

This call has a $10 entry fee between May 15 and May 31, before increasing.


National Performance Network Creation & Development Fund
New Orleans, Louisiana

The Creation & Development Fund supports the creation, development and mobility of new artistic work that advances racial and cultural justice and results in live experiential exchange between artists and community. The fund provides a framework for relationships to develop, over time, among diverse artists, arts organizations, and communities. Through the investment of commissioning funds from arts organizations and NPN direct subsidies, each project is eligible for multi-level support.


Center for Craft 2026 Craft Archive Fellowship
Asheville, North Carolina
Deadline: May 20, 2026

The 2026 Craft Archive Fellowship will foster archival research on underrepresented and non-dominant craft histories in the United States, such as feminist, intersectional, queer, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and other communities and approaches that may not be specifically listed here. The fellowship will support a range of scholars, including independent, artists, emerging to established researchers. Four Center for Craft Archive Fellows will receive a $5,000 stipend to conduct research in an archive of their choosing. These Fellows may engage in both conventional and innovative approaches to archival research.


1708 Gallery 2026-2027 Pilot Artist Residency Program
Richmond, Virginia

1708 is seeking candidates who are working towards a specific outcome (a future exhibition, public art project, community engagement program, or other), and willing to participate in regular dialogues during their tenure about their experience and provide feedback upon their exit. 1708 will provide a private living/working space, a $1250 monthly stipend, and assistance planning a public program to take place during the residency. The pilot residencies are free, and 2 months in length running from November 2026 through August 2027. Applicants must reside within a 600-mile radius of Richmond, Virginia.

Joan Mitchell Foundation: Residencies
New Orleans, Louisiana

Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans offers artists dedicated time and space for the creative process through 6 or 10 week residencies. Artists have opportunities to engage with arts professionals, partner arts organizations, and others in the community. Artists-in-Residence receive: a private studio space at the Center for 10 weeks in either the Spring or Fall 2027 residency session, or for 6 weeks during the Summer 2027 session; weekday meals; a $150 weekly stipend; and a range of professional development and public engagement opportunities.


Oak Spring Garden Foundation: Interdisciplinary Residency Program
Upperville, Virginia

This program provides individuals with the time and space to pursue their own creative projects alongside other Residents who may be examining plants, landscapes, gardens, and the natural world from different perspectives. Artists, conservation practitioners, researchers, scholars, scientists, and/or writers are encouraged to apply. Now, in 2026, we have hosted over 300 Interdisciplinary Residents, and we plan to award about 50 Interdisciplinary Residencies annually.


The Wolfsonian Creative Fellowship
Miami Beach, Florida

The Wolfsonian invites creatives engaging with digital media to explore how digital tools and platforms can activate the Wolfsonian collection and ideas for contemporary audiences to apply for its 2-week residency program. Fellows engage closely with staff, objects, and the resources of the Knight Labs to develop concepts for new work informed by their research. Proposals are encouraged for projects involving, but not limited to, animation, moving image, generative media, sound-based work, or other experimental formats.


Project Row Houses: Southern Survey Biennial III

Project Row Houses (PRH) is proud to present the third iteration of our Southern Survey Biennial: a survey of recent works created by contemporary visual artists living and working in “The South.” Artists based in the southern region of the United States are encouraged to apply for an installation in one of PRH’s seven art houses located on Holman St.

This opportunity aims to highlight the collective creativity of southerners while providing more viable opportunities specific to the Southern region, specifically residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Selected installations will receive a $5,000 stipend that can be used towards materials, artist fee(s), and creative labor. One artist will receive a $25,000 prize that will be selected by a guest juror. Project Row Houses will cover travel and lodging throughout the week of the installation period, leading up to the opening reception and community market in early October.


Eliza Moore Fellowship for Artistic Excellence

The Oak Spring Foundation awards this fellowship to one emerging artist who is developing new works that address plants, gardens, or landscapes in the broad sense. It is open to visual artists, literary artists, dancers, and musicians and includes a $10,000 individual grant and a residency.


Green Family Foundation Caribbean Cultural Institute (CCI) Fellowship Program, Pérez Art Museum Miami
Miami, Florida

The program invites researchers, artists, and women and nonbinary photographers from across the Caribbean and its diaspora to apply for the CCI Research Fellowship, CCI Artist Fellowship, and CCI + Women Photographers International Archive (WOPHA) Fellowship. All fellowships are self-directed and will take place between September and December 2026. The exact dates of each one will depend upon the specific requirements of the project and be mutually decided upon by the awardee, the CCI team, and the partner organizations.


Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) Working Artist Project
Atlanta, Georgia

The Working Artist Project (WAP) is a year-long fellowship program facilitated by The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA). The program was created by MOCA GA to champion established visual artists of merit who are based in the Atlanta metropolitan region. Each year, a guest curator selects three of our best and brightest to receive a solo exhibition, promotion, a studio apprentice (in support of emerging artists in the Atlanta Community), a full-color catalogue, and a $15,000 stipend to create work over the course of the year.


Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow

The mission of The Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow (WCDH) is to provide uninterrupted residency time for writers of all genres, including culinary, composers, and artists without discrimination. The WCDH will foster an environment that allows writers to work, interact with the wider community, stimulate new thinking, and energize creative expression. Residencies are typically one week and a maximum of three months.

This call has a $35 entry fee.


South Arts: Arts in Rural Places Grant

Arts in Rural Places Grants are an opportunity for organizations in South Arts’ nine-state region to receive artist fee support to engage Southern guest film directors, traditional, visual, and performing artists, or writers from inside or outside of the presenter’s state. Projects require at least two public-facing activities that offer access to arts programming by Southern artists, and must take place between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027.


Krevolin Arts Foundation Residency
Sarasota County, Florida

Artists in all media who are selected for the artist-in-residence program will have the opportunity to focus on their work while living in the K.A.F. headquarters, a stunning Florida beach bungalow. This includes at least 10 hours of consulting a week with Prof. Krevolin and allows the artist to develop their voices and new work in a safe, supportive space.
