On::View Artist in Residency : Fall 2023 Session

The ON::VIEW Artist Residency at Sulfur Studios provides a free, high visibility studio space for an artist to complete a new project, to continue an in-progress endeavor, or to conduct research exploring conceptual, material, performative, and social practices. The studio’s large windows look out onto Bull Street, the district’s main thoroughfare, allowing the artists’ work to be on view to the community at all times. Sulfur Studios’ visitors and passersby on the sidewalk witness the artists’ process as it unfolds in real time, seeing all the steps involved from concept to final execution. Community events like workshops, performances, public art projects and artist talks, offer creative ways to interact with the public. The ON::View Residency supports artists from across the globe, working in all media.

The Working Artist Project: Call for Submissions 2023/2024

The Working Artist Project (WAP) is a year long fellowship program facilitated by The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA). The program was created by MOCA GA to champion established visual artists of merit who reside in the Atlanta metropolitan region. Each year, a guest curator selects three of our best and brightest to receive a solo exhibition, promotion, a studio apprentice (in support of emerging artists in the Atlanta Community), a full-color catalogue, and a $15,000 stipend to create work over the course of the year. Applicants must both currently live in, and have studio space (within your home or commercial space) in the following counties: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale, and remain an Atlanta-based artist for the length of the grant period, until the exhibition’s end.
Spring 2023 Innovate Grants for Art + Photo

Innovate Grant supports artists and photographers through quarterly $1,800.00 grants. The grant was created out of the frustration of applying to grants with time-consuming requirements. These lengthy applications took valuable time and energy away from making new work. Countless hours were always sacrificed in either writing artist statements, crafting project proposals and getting letters of recommendation. Two $1,800.00 grants are awarded each quarter, to one Visual Artist and one Photographer. In addition, six honorable mentions (3 in art and 3 in photo), will be featured on the Innovate Grant website and join a growing community of vibrant and talented artists. Innovate Grant’s commitment extends beyond the grant cycle by promoting the work of selected winners and honorable mentions into the future. Visual Artists and Photographers 18 years and older, from all around the world, US + International, are eligible to apply. All media and genres are accepted.

The Laura Patricia Calle Grant

The Laura Patricia Calle Grant is designed to honor our dear friend Laura Patricia Calle’s life, hard work, and immeasurable passion for equality for all people and the manifestation of diverse cultural expression in our public spaces. For the 6th annual grant, artists and art collectives are invited to present proposals for a mural to be painted in the Metro Atlanta region (as defined by Atlanta Regional Commission). The mural should inform and promote awareness on the subject(s) of: Social Equality, Feminism, Immigrants’ Rights, LGBTQIA+ Rights, and Cultural Diversity. The $20,000 grant is all-inclusive, meaning that the awardee is expected to lead the entirety of the mural production, including but not limited to securing a permanent wall location, covering artist fees, hiring assistants and media teams, and acquiring materials and equipment. Living Walls is available to provide support, but the selected project is expected to be artist-led. Artists can apply individually or as a team but must reside in the United States.
Athica Annual Call for Artists 2023-2025

ATHICA’s exhibition series Solo Duo Trio expands opportunities for individual artists to exhibit their work at ATHICA and its satellite location, ATHICA@Ciné. Artists working in any media with a cohesive body of work are invited to apply. Challenging, progressive, and innovative work is welcome. Note: Curators and curatorial teams can also submit proposals for this call. Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the ATHICA Exhibitions Committee for placement in small group (Duo or Trio) or individual (Solo) shows at either the main gallery in the Leathers Building at 675 Pulaski St., Athens, GA or ATHICA@Ciné, the downtown satellite location at Ciné Arthouse Cinema at 234 W Hancock Ave. Fee waivers for $10 application fee are available on request and artists receive a small stipend to help offset expenses upon acceptance.

The Studios at MASS MoCA 2024 Residencies

The Studios is MASS MoCA’s artist and writers residency program situated within the museum’s factory campus and surrounded by the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. Operated by MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists department, the residency runs year-round and hosts up to 10 artists at a time. Fully-funded fellowships are available for two or four-week residencies, including General Fellowships (anyone expressing financial need will be considered), and fellowships for Black or Indigenous Artists, Massachusetts Artists, Oregon Visual Artists, and Puerto Rico Artists, along with a number of University-sponsored Fellowships. This opportunity is open to both national and international artists, with the general fellowship application available both in English and Spanish.
Loghaven Artist Residency 2024-2025

Loghaven Artist Residency’s mission is to serve artists by providing them with a transformative residency experience and continued post-residency support. The residency is located on ninety acres of woodland in Knoxville, Tennessee. Artists live in five historic log cabins that have been both rehabilitated and modernized to create an ideal setting for reflection and work, and they have access to new, purpose-built studio space. All Loghaven Fellows are awarded stipends to support the creation of new work during the residency. Artists must be at least twenty-one years old and live more than 120 miles away from Knoxville. This distance requirement is designed to ensure that artists are able to be fully immersed in their residency experience and can take advantage of the retreat-style environment.

Art for Change Prize 2023

Drawing upon the success of last year, which saw 2,500 entries from over 130 countries worldwide, the free-to-enter Art for Change Prize aims to make art, culture, and creativity accessible to everyone. It celebrates emerging artistic talent and serves to highlight and stimulate dialogue around visual arts as a medium for positive global and social change. With M&C Saatchi’s deep experience in behavior change, this year’s prize invites emerging artists from around the world to creatively respond to the theme of ‘Regeneration’. Artists are invited to create new stories of a liveable future and motivate people to do what it takes to be a driving force for the change we need. A total prize fund of £20,000 will be split between six regional winners, five to receive £2,000 each and one overall winner to receive £10,000. All artists will exhibit their winning works in a dedicated exhibition at Saatchi Gallery, a recognized authority in contemporary art, where the overall winner will be announced. Applications will be invited through an open call online and the prize is available to emerging artists based in the following M&C Saatchi key global regions UK, Europe, Americas, Asia, Australia, Middle East & Africa. A winner from each location will be decided by the judging panel before a grand jury selects the overall winner.
Spruill Center for the Arts and Spruill Gallery 4th Annual AMPLIFY Open Call

Spruill Center for the Arts and Spruill Gallery announces the open call for submissions for the 4th Annual AMPLIFY outdoor installation project. This project aims to elevate a sense of community, connect people through art, and promote local, regional and national artists. The AMPLIFY artist whose proposal is selected will install their design on the historic “Smoke House” at the Spruill Gallery grounds at 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody, Georgia. The installation site is in a high-visibility area in the ever-growing and expanding Atlanta Perimeter Business District. The project winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize, up to $1,000 materials stipend, and proceeds from the sale of installation-specific merchandise, including collectible limited-edition prints, along with being unveiled during the annual Spirits for Spruill event on October 14, 2023. This event celebrates and showcases the public art project in front of hundreds of the area’s supporters including artists, businesses and government officials.

The ideal candidate is an established graphic design professional who can bring relevant industry knowledge and experience to the classroom. Call to Artists for Skyway 2023: A Contemporary Collaboration

Skyway 2024: A Contemporary Collaboration is a celebration of artistic practices in the Tampa Bay region, as it is a collaboration between five institutions: the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg; The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota; the Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College of Art and Design; the Tampa Museum of Art; and the University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum, Tampa. Working together, curators from each institution offer context for the diversity of art being made in Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties. Artworks and projects in the final exhibition will be selected from an open call by the museum curators and the guest juror Evan Garza, a curator, writer, and scholar whose practice expands exhibition and collection diversification with a focus on women and LGBTQ+ artists, as well as artists from historically marginalized communities. Artists working in diverse media and disciplines, including socially engaged art and participatory projects, are encouraged to submit original artworks and project proposals. Submissions can include, but are not limited to, work on paper, painting, sculpture, photography, video, performance, sound, research-based art, and site-specific installations. Only original works of art completed after December 2020 are eligible for submission.
2023 Current Art Fund & Project-Based Grants

The Current Art Fund granting program is organized and administered by Tri-Star Arts as a partner in the Regional Regranting Program of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The Current Art Fund seeks to support visual artists and artist collectives in creating independent, non-traditional, public-facing projects that contribute to the rich dialogue within contemporary visual art scenes across the state of Tennessee. The 2023 granting cycle will offer project-based grants to fund artists’ innovative contributions to the visual arts conversation in Tennessee. The Current Art Fund will distribute grants of $7,500 each to 9 Tennessee-based contemporary visual artists and artist collectives, selected by a 4 person jury panel, to use towards the realization of a dynamic and accessible project. Awarding grants to artists living throughout the breadth of Tennessee will be a high priority in the jurors’ selection process. Applicants may submit projects featuring 2-D, 3-D, and 4-D work (or a combination).
The Verdant Fund

An expansion of the Warhol Foundation’s Regional Re-granting program, the Verdant Fund supports creative practice born of and within Alabama. The fund’s goal is to reach a broad range of artists across all geographic areas of the state. Verdant Fund hopes to extend immediate relief to artists, aid in artist retention in the state, and deepen the network among people in creative practice. The Verdant fund will award grants of up to $7,000, to disperse a total of $60,000 per year. This grant is for non-traditional public-facing projects that take place in the state of Alabama, and support visual artists in the State. Verdant Fund supports individual artists, artist-curators, collectives, or collaboratives, so long as the lead artist resides in the State.
Open Exhibition Call for Artists for Rescue: Waste and Redemption

The Lyndon House Arts Center announces a call for artworks for the exhibition titled Rescue: Waste and Redemption with a deadline of September 20, 2023. Lyndon House Arts Center and guest curator Lizzie Zucker Saltz seeks artists who transform industrial byproducts into artworks or craft objects, creating artworks that save materials from the landfill or rescue raw materials from the fate of becoming environmental pollutants. We encourage artists whose practice involves the use of environmentally conscious processes and materials—including but not limited to fabric art, jewelry, woodworking, metalworks, installation or multi-media constructions—to apply for the exhibition titled Rescue: Waste and Redemption, to be on view April 6 to June 1, 2024. There is no entry fee to apply and artists selected for exhibition are responsible for all shipping/transportation.
Call for Teaching Artists for Summer Camps 2023 at Space One Eleven

Space One Eleven is offering paid teaching positions to artists with previous teaching experience for its 2023 summer art camps. Summer art camps are for (rising) 2nd through 12th graders and meet for 1 or 2 week sessions from 9am to 3pm, Monday through Friday beginning June 5th and ending July 28th, 2023. Payment for teaching is $750-$875 per week. Each camp is limited to between 10 and 15 students.

Nancy Norton Tomasko Scholarship

The Nancy Norton Tomasko Scholarship fund is dedicated to providing financial support for individuals wishing to learn more about the book arts. The Center will award scholarships covering the full tuition and materials for one course per individual. Awardees are selected based on financial need and proof of having satisfied the prerequisites for the desired course. Please fill out and submit the following form at least three weeks before the start date of the workshop to be considered for financial assistance.
