2027 ArtFields Competition & Festival

Artists working in any visual art medium are invited to submit one work for consideration for the 2027 ArtFields Competition & Festival, one of the Southeast’s largest and most prestigious art events, held each spring in Lake City, South Carolina. Selected artists will exhibit alongside hundreds of peers in galleries, warehouses, restaurants, shops, and other venues throughout downtown, competing for over $100,000 in cash prizes.

ON::View Artist Residency Program
Savannah, Georgia

Located in the heart of Savannah’s Starland District at ARTS Southeast, the fully-funded ON::View Artist Residency provides a free, high visibility studio space, lodging, and $500 stipend for an artist or curator to complete a new project, continue an in-progress endeavor, or to conduct research.

1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art

The Gibbes Museum and Society 1858’s Prize for Contemporary Southern Art is awarded to an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of art in the South. Presented annually, the Prize recognizes the highest level of artistic achievement and welcomes applications from artist working across any media. The winning artist will receive a $10,000 unrestricted monetary award and have an artwork exhibited at the Gibbes Museum for an entire year. Artists who reside, work in, or are from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia are encouraged and eligible to apply.

Wayne Art Center is pleased to present CraftForms 2026, the 31st International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Craft. Since its founding more than three decades ago, CraftForms has been a premier platform for contemporary craft, showcasing work by both established and emerging artists. This eagerly anticipated exhibition is dedicated to enhancing the public’s awareness of fine contemporary craft while providing a venue for established and emerging artists to share their creative endeavors. Artists in the following mediums are encouraged to apply: basketry, ceramics, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art, and wood.

Hodder Fellowship

The Hodder Fellowship will be given to artists and writers of exceptional promise to pursue independent projects at Princeton University during the academic year. Potential Hodder Fellows are composers, choreographers, performance artists, visual artists, writers, translators, or other kinds of artists or humanists who have “much more than ordinary intellectual and literary gifts”; they are selected more “for promise than for performance.” Fellows spend an academic year with Princeton but no formal teaching is involved. A $93,000 stipend is provided for this 10-month appointment as a Visiting Fellow.
Artist Innovation Grant

The Artist Innovation Grant provides direct funds to professional and established individual artists of all disciplines for new and/or experimental art projects. The program is designed to encourage risk-taking, exploration of artistic pursuits, career advancement, interactivity, and sustained commitment to artistic work. Acceptable projects may include collaborations across various disciplines, use of technology and multiple media types, immersive installations, interactive performances/concerts, literary/oral history projects, temporary public art projects, and more. Selected artists are required to produce an event that is free, accessible, and open to the Broward County public.

The Athens Institute for Contemporary Art (ATHICA) invites artists to submit up to five contemporary works in any media for their National Juried Exhibition, to take place from October 22 to November 22. The exhibition will be juried by Phillip McClure, the director oof Hopes, a curatorial initiative and gallery located in Chattanooga, TN, committed to foregrounding community-building, experimentation, and care as vital forces in the creation and dissemination of contemporary art. Before starting Hopes, Phillip ran blue boy, an artist-run space in Savannah, GA.

Toni Beauchamp Prize in Critical Art Writing

Gulf Coast invites entries for the 2026 Toni Beauchamp Prize in Critical Art Writing, which seeks to address the lack of venues and support for young and mid-career writers working across the United States. A variety of creative approaches and formats to writing on the visual arts are encouraged, and can include thematic essays, exhibition reviews, and scholarly essays. Win $3,000 for first place or $1,000 as a runner-up. This year’s judge is critic Andrew Berardini.
Hamiltonian Teaching Artist Residency

American University and Hamiltonian Artists invite applications for the newly established Hamiltonian Teaching Artist Residency with American University. The 2027 Spring Semester Teaching Artist Residency offers practicing visual artists a paid MFA-level teaching post plus fully funded housing and studio space in Washington D.C.

The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) provides time and space for national and international writers, visual artists, and composers of talent and promise to bring forth their finest works, because the arts are vital, diversity is a strength, and creativity is essential. Hambidge Residencies (Spring Session)

The oldest residency program in the Southeast, Hambidge provides a self-directed program that honors the creative process and trusts individuals to know what they need to cultivate their talent, whether it’s to work and produce, to think, to experiment or to rejuvenate. Residents’ time is their own; there are no workshops, critiques, nor required activities.
Sarah Stanley Gordon Edwards and Archibald Cason Edwards Senior Fellowship

Established in 2013 by Virginia Center for the Creative Arts Fellow Mary D. Edwards, this fully-funded, two-week fellowship aims to support female-identifying visual artists, with strong preference given to Native Americans. All Native American visual artists are encouraged to apply.

Waterworks Visual Arts Center is nationally accredited by the American Alliance of Museums as a non-collecting art museum. In These Mountains: Central Appalachian Folk Arts & Culture FY27 Infrastructure Grants

South Arts’ In These Mountains: Central Appalachian Folk Arts & Culture FY27 Infrastructure Grants advance the goals of the In These Mountains (ITM) initiative by supporting organizations that promote sharing, teaching, learning, preserving, documenting, and supporting the continuity of the folk arts and traditional culture of Central Appalachia. The ITM initiative specifically seeks opportunities to support the work of traditional artists and organizations engaged in handcrafts/material culture, foodways, and music. Applicants must be not-for-profit organizations located in Appalachian Regional Commission counties in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Two organizations from each eligible state will be selected.
FY27 Emerging Traditional Artists Program

South Arts is pleased to announce the FY27 Emerging Traditional Artists Program (ETAP), a component of the In These Mountains, Central Appalachian Folk Arts and Culture initiative and, new for FY27, expanded capacity building to emerging traditional artists in Native and Delta Regional Authority communities. This program recognizes and supports a new generation of traditional artists that have demonstrated a high level of skill in, commitment to, and leadership in their traditional art form. Eligible artists must reside in an Appalachian Regional Commission-designated County (in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee) or a Delta Regional Authority-designated County (in Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, or Tennessee).
Artadia Atlanta Awards

The Artadia Awards provide contemporary visual artists living or working in Atlanta with financial support and exposure. Three artists will receive unrestricted funds of $15,000. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds in any way they choose.
Call for Entries: The Augusta Sculpture Trail

THe Greater Augusta Arts Council, as the public art agency for the City of Augusta, Georgia, is seeking ten (10) pre-existing sculptures suitable for outdoor display for the Augusta Sculpture Trail. This will be a temporary (2 year) installation in Downtown Augusta. All works will be heavily promoted as an arts destination attraction with online, printed, and in ads. A digital walking tour will be created and all artists will be requested to submit content to be placed in that online platform. We will regularly bring attention to the sculpture sites with programmed activities.
