For Burnaway's June Mood Ring, huiyin zhou 徽音 presents From South to South 从南方到南方, a love letter to the South(s), from the 回南天 weather in Guangdong, China to the summer rains of North Carolina.
huiyin zhou 徽音
Born and raised in China’s industrial hub of Dongguan, huiyin zhou 徽音 (they/ta/她) is a diasporic bird and ordinary alien currently based in Durham, NC. They work across photography, writing, installation, and performance to explore queer feminist kinship, family archives, migration, and memory. A Lambda Literary and Abode Press fellow, huiyin has been awarded residencies at Pedantic Arts (PA), The Luminary (MO), BRIClab (NY), Vox Populi (PA) and more. They have been published by Massachusetts Review, positions: asia critique, The Seventh Wave, Sine Theta Magazine, among others. huiyin is the author of mixed-media photobook nostalgia is the ghost of care 在未来怀念一片云彩 (Homie House Press/kawan pan, June 2026).
