Episode 68: Mike Black is an artist whose work combines sculpture with a street art sensibility. Black’s sculptures are meant to call attention to the structural aspects of forgotten buildings, while also paying homage to the people who constructed those buildings. Black is currently a GSU student, a Dashboard Co-op artist, and works at a host of other art-related places in Atlanta.
He’s also throwing an Edgewood-wide party on June 30th sponsored by PBR at the bars Mother and Church. The resulting empty beer cans from this party will go towards a sculpture commissioned by PBR.
Topics include: Street art, sculpting with an eye to painting, and upcoming projects to look out for.

The intention to create a archive of conversational interviews with artists in Atlanta, or with an Atlanta connection. These conversations are informal and conducted in the spirit of a coffee meet-up.
