Are you interested? Appalled? Or just confused? Artist statements like this can be found in copious amounts throughout the art world. Being able to successfully compose a coherent and succinct statement is quite a valuable tool.
Don’t be this artist! On October 11, BURNAWAY presents our Artist Statement Writing Workshop for emerging and midcareer artists. The workshop will focus on demystifying the writing process and provide the opportunity for artists to exchange feedback.
The workshop is limited to 15 participants to maximize the potential for peer-to-peer dialogue. Applicants will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis, through preference will be given to BURNAWAY members (become a member!).
Atlanta-based painter and educator Katherine Taylor will lead the workshop. Taylor is represented by Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta, and her work has been exhibited at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, and art fairs in Miami, Portland, London, and New York.
To maximize time for in-class discussion and editing, participants will be asked to send a copy of their current artist statement (if you have one) for the instructor to review prior to the workshop.
