North Carolina Arts Council Artist Support Grants

Artist Support Grants, funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, allow regional consortia of local arts councils to award project grants to artists in their regions. The grants support professional artists in any discipline and at any career stage in pursuing projects that advance their artistic and professional development. Applicants should contact their granting local arts council for details, including specific deadlines.


Sculpture on the Greenway: Wolf River Cultural Greenway
Germantown, Tennessee

Deadline: October 4, 2026

The Germantown Public Art Program invites sculptors residing in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas to submit outdoor works for the 2027–2029 Sculpture on the Greenway rotating exhibition. As Phase 2 of a multi-phase effort to integrate public art along Germantown’s 10-mile linear trail system near the Germantown Medical District, the exhibition positions the Greenway at the intersection of art, nature, and health. Seven selected artists will each receive a $4,000 stipend.


Call for Entries: Aggregate IV: Rock On!
Kent, Ohio
Deadline: October 4, 2026

This juried exhibition is open to all artists living in the United States working in any medium. Aggregate IV brings together work by artists from across the country, with a $500 first prize and a $300 runner-up award. The show runs November 6, 2026 through January 9, 2027 at the School of Art Collection and Galleries, Kent State University, with a reception on November 6 from 5 to 7 p.m.

2nd Annual Kit Gilbert Juried Showcase

The Gilbert Center in downtown Ruston presents the 2nd Annual Kit Gilbert Juried Showcase, featuring artists from across the country. The exhibition includes a wide variety of media and styles and is open to both emerging and established artists. Millay Arts Core Residency
Austerlitz, New York

Millay Arts offers a fully subsidized Core Residency to artists selected through a blind jury process. The residency brings together a cohort of six to seven multidisciplinary artists and includes a private bedroom and studio, shared living spaces, a laundry room, a black-and-white darkroom, and access to Millay facilities. Groceries and communal dinners prepared by an in-house chef are provided.

Solo Exhibition at Gallery VERY
Boston, Massachusetts

Gallery VERY invites artists to apply for a five-week solo exhibition in Boston’s SoWa arts district. One artist will be selected to work with Gallery Director John Guthrie to develop an exhibition approximately six months after selection. All visual media and career stages are welcome, and no exhibition proposal is required. The exhibition includes professional installation, an opening reception, an artist talk, promotion, sales representation, and a permanent presence on the gallery website. Gallery VERY is an artist-run contemporary art space in Boston.

40th Materials: Hard + Soft Contemporary Craft + Digital Exhibition

The Greater Denton Arts Council announces the open call for the 2027 International Materials: Hard + Soft Contemporary Craft + Digital Exhibition, running February 26 through May 8, 2027. The exhibition celebrates work made from ceramic, wood, fiber, metal, glass, paper, and mixed media. In 2025, it expanded to include digital media and conceptual art. Artists are invited to submit works that combine concepts and materials in unexpected ways.

Utah State University Animal Science Building Public Art

Utah State University seeks artists and artist teams interested in creating site-specific artwork for the renovated Animal Science Building. Professional artists residing anywhere in the United States are eligible. The historic building now houses the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, along with a new Data Science and Artificial Intelligence lab and the Aggie Math Learning Center. The Art Selection Committee seeks interior work that reflects learning and collaboration and the foundational universality of mathematics while creating a welcoming environment for students using the space.


CURRENTS 2026: PhotoNOLA Festival
New Orleans, Louisiana

Photographers are invited to submit work for CURRENTS 2026, the annual PhotoNOLA showcase at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Open to active members of the New Orleans Photo Alliance, the exhibition highlights 8 to 10 portfolios of diverse photographic work, with up to four images per selected photographer, to provide an overview of contemporary practices. The show runs December 4, 2026 through February 1, 2027. The 2026 juror is Bill Boling, book publisher and founder of Fall Line Press.

This call has a $60 application fee that includes an NOPA membership.


19th Annual Open Juried Photographic Exhibit

Cary Photographic Artists (CPA) hosts its 19th Annual Open Juried Photographic Exhibit from October 20 through December 19, 2026 at the Cary Senior Center in Cary, NC. The event seeks entries from eastern and central North Carolina, with about 200 artists typically participating. Prints are judged in monochrome and color categories, with cash prizes in both, along with the Bobbi Hopp Best-in-Show Award, named for the late founder of CPA.

Upcycled Films: Short Film Search

Upcycled Films is an online platform that restores and revives old and lost short films from around the globe. The project highlights films from the Global South, Indigenous peoples worldwide, and historically under-resourced communities, focusing on work with a strong visual language made before 2010 that has not reached an international audience. All types of films are welcome, whether made in school or as a passion project. The mission is to expand access to the international creative landscape and to unconventional film structures.


11th Annual 5x5x5 Show
Alexandria, Louisiana
Deadline: October 17, 2026

River Oaks Square Arts Center’s 11th Annual 5x5x5 Show features miniature works from artists across the United States. All visual artists are invited to participate. The show is a signature event for the Arts Center, offering its patrons original works to purchase for gifting or collecting. Artist and educator Tyler Barnes will serve as guest juror.

Monumental Public Art Sculpture
Orlando, Florida

The City of Orlando invites professional artists and artist teams to submit preliminary conceptual proposals for the design, fabrication, and installation of a permanent monumental sculpture. The work will be installed in a new 14.2-acre community park along Luminary Boulevard in the Lake Nona community.


Open Interval: An Artist-Scientist Exploration of “Turbulence”
New York City, New York
Deadline: October 21, 2026

Open Interval, a Simons Foundation program, supports trios of artists, scientists, and arts organizations who come together around a shared scientific theme and explore their curiosity across several months. The next theme is “turbulence.” Awarded trios will receive $30,000. Applications do not require a proposed project or end goal, as the program supports sustained collaboration rather than production or completed works. Each application must come from a complete trio of an artist, a scientist, and a representative from an arts organization. The program runs from April to December 2027.


Alaska State Parks Artist-in-Residence Program
Anchorage, Alaska
Deadline: October 31, 2026

The Alaska State Parks Artist-in-Residence program allows artists to spend up to five days in a state parks cabin exploring the scenic and recreational resources of Alaska’s park system. The program is open to artists of all disciplines located anywhere in the world. Each artist is expected to donate at least one artwork or writing inspired by their time in the park. Participants are responsible for the cost and means of travel to and from the cabins.

Wild Basin Artist in Residence Program
Austin, Texas

The 227-acre Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve sits within Austin and reflects the city’s mix of wild and modern. Wild Basin hosts two artists per year, in spring and fall, and encourages artists of all disciplines in the greater Austin area to apply. Artists receive a small budget for materials and supplies, a modest stipend, and access to workspace within the Wild Basin Creative Research Center and the preserve’s trail system.


The Contemporary Print 2027

PrintAustin announces the open call for its 14th annual juried international exhibition, The Contemporary Print, presented with The Art Galleries at Austin Community College and juried by Lauren Rosenblum, the Print Center’s Jensen Bryan Curator. The exhibition surveys traditional printmaking techniques and innovative approaches in contemporary printmaking. Submissions must use traditional print media as their primary technique, including lithography, relief, intaglio, silkscreen, photopolymer plate, and monotype.

Travis Bogard Artist in Residence Program

The Eugene O’Neill Foundation offers fellowships at Tao House for artists focused on the performing arts who would benefit from time to work without distraction. Fellows work in solitude and quiet akin to the creative atmosphere in which Eugene O’Neill produced his major plays. There is no requirement that the work relate to O’Neill.


2027 ArtFields Festival
Lake City, South Carolina
Deadline: November 1, 2026

Artists are invited to submit work for the 2027 ArtFields Festival, held April 9 through May 1, 2027 in Lake City, South Carolina. Selected artworks will be shown among hundreds of others in galleries, warehouses, restaurants, shops, and other downtown venues, and will compete for over $100,000 in cash prizes. Thousands of visitors attend, including curators, collectors, critics, and news media. Artists must reside in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia for at least six months and be over 18 years of age.
