Chasitie Brown is a PhD candidate at the University of Texas at Austin where she studies contemporary Caribbean and Latin American art with a focus on Cuba. Her dissertation examines visualizations of Blackness by three contemporary Cuban artists working and exhibiting together during the 1990s. This research is grounded in theories of affect, hauntology/death, and Black queer feminist studies.
