The Supermarket
638 N Highland Ave NE, Atlanta Georgia 30306
We’re doing it again! Join us in celebrating Burnaway’s 16th anniversary Sunday, October 6th, at The Supermarket. 🎂 It’s our little way of saying thank you for sticking with our experiment disguised as an art magazine all these years.
We’re excited to bring you to a new space, The Supermarket, a 12,500 sq ft. arts complex specializing in exhibitions, education, and entrepreneurship, an offshoot of The Bakery, a collective of artists, curators, and administrators dedicated to offering alternative models to local creatives and the general public.
About The Supermarket’s exhibition
The Bakery Atlanta, in collaboration with Labyrinth Curation and The Curator’s Studio, is pleased to present “Boundary Lines” on view from Thursday, October 3, through Sunday, October 6, 2024. The pop-up exhibition opens on Thursday, 10/3, 6:30 – 10 pm at The Supermarket following the Atlanta Art Fair VIP party. The Supermarket is near Pullman Yards, the site of the Atlanta Art Fair, at 638 North Highland Avenue Northeast, Atlanta. The exhibition will continue from Friday, 10/4, through Sunday, 10/6. Gallery hours vary by day. The exhibition is on view during events and by appointment. See The Supermarket’s events calendar here.
“Boundary Lines” invites viewers to actively engage with complex themes, question the status quo, and imagine new ways of living in harmony with our environment and each other. It features artists Steven L. Anderson, Olu Amoda, Aaron Artrip, Eve Brown, Kate Burke, Ruby Chavez, Craig Dongoski, Sabre Esler, Jason Foster, MaDora Frey, Abby Gregg, Pam Longobardi, Dana Montlack, Daniel Motz, Ali O’Leary, Pilar, Jeffrey Wilcox Paclipan, and Kayleigh Shay.
Whether physical, ideological, or ecological— creating boundaries defines and often disrupts the delicate equilibrium necessary for coexistence. The artists featured in “Boundary Lines” explore our relationship to the global society and how our actions rapidly shape it and, in turn, shape us. Their works investigate the tensions between growth and conservation, the human need for industry, and the imperative to protect our planet’s ecological systems. Collectively, they offer insights into our current reality while prompting us to envision a future where the boundaries we create foster coexistence and resilience rather than division and destruction.
Curated collaboratively by The Bakery Atlanta, The Curator’s Studio, and Labyrinth Curation and presented at The Supermarket, this diverse group of Atlanta-based artists—offers a visual dialogue on the pressing issues of our time, ensuring a representation of various perspectives.
