
Bernheim Forest 2025 Artist in Residence Program

The Bernheim Forest residency awards up to 4 residencies a year to artists whose art ignites wonder, sparks curiosity, and brings people closer to nature. The program includes a $2,500 stipend along with the opportunity to live at Bernheim Forest and create site specific work inspired by their total immersion experience in the natural environment. One residency is always dedicated to an artist currently living in Kentucky or nearby counties in Southern Indiana; and one residency is dedicated to an artist whose work addresses environmental issues and the climate crisis. They encourage visual artists of all mediums to apply.
Creative Greensboro Downtown Arts Open Call

Downtown Arts provides support for and generates awareness about members of Greensboro’s visual arts community while enhancing the downtown built environment with original works of art. Selected artists will receive compensation and the support of City of Greensboro led marketing initiatives. Selected artists will receive compensation and promotion through several City-led initiatives. Applicants to this Call for Artists can choose to be considered for one or both of the following opportunities:
Art on Downtown Kiosks: a $500 honorarium will be awarded to up to ten artists whose submitted work is selected for digital display on City maintained property, including on the 11 digital kiosks located throughout downtown, February 2025 through January 2026. Each selected artist/image will be displayed in a rotating slideshow on the downtown kiosks for 10 weeks.
Art in City Hall: a $3,000 commission will be awarded to one artist who will create a new, original work no larger than 36” x 24” (or 36” x 24” x 24” if artwork is three-dimensional) that reflects their creative perspective on Greensboro in 2024. The original work will be placed in the City’s permanent collection and displayed periodically in public facilities.
Both opportunities are available for Greensboro-based artists working in painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, glass, photography, digital arts, or fiber arts.
8th Louisiana Biennial: National Juried Exhibition

The 8th Louisiana Biennial is open to artists in the US creating 2D, 3D, and video works that explore any theme. The juror is Bridget Bray, an independent curator based in Houston, TX. Bray was formerly the Nancy C. Allen Curator and Director of Exhibitions at Asia Society Texas.

The Southern Prize and State Fellowships

The South Arts Southern Prize and State Fellowships acknowledge, support, and celebrate the highest quality artistic work being created in the American South. The program is open to individual artists living in the South Arts region: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The cohort of nine-state fellows will be selected through a two-tiered selection process by a national jury. A second national jury will select the Southern Prize Winner and Finalist. Jurors will make their selections based on artistic excellence that reflects and represents the array of artistic expression of the region. This program is open to visual artists in several categories.

2026 North Charleston Arts Fest Poster Design Competition

The City of North Charleston is calling upon South Carolina visual artists to participate in the 43rd Annual North Charleston Arts Fest Poster Design Competition. The winning piece will become the official poster design of the 2026 North Charleston Arts Fest, taking place April 29-May 3, and will be featured on all promotional materials and merchandise, including posters, billboards, print and digital advertisements, television commercials, program booklets, apparel, online, and more. The winning artist will receive a $1000 purchase award and a solo exhibition at Park Circle Gallery during May 2026. In addition, the winning piece will become part of the City of North Charleston’s Public Art Collection, which is displayed throughout City Hall.

The MAX Permanent Exhibition Wayfinding

The MAX seeks qualifications from Mississippi artists and designers of all types to design and produce an original, visually striking installation(s) that bookend the entrance and exit of the permanent exhibition. The completed installation will wrap around the main entrance to the exhibition. Mississippi-based creatives of any age with strong skills in graphic design, folk art, visual art, and/or installations are encouraged to submit their qualifications. “Mississippi creatives” are those with deep ties to the state who have spent a substantial part of their life and/or career in Mississippi. The Steel Yard Micro-Residency

The Steel Yard’s micro-residency program can assist you in growing and strengthening your creative industrial art practice with flexible time commitments. Micro-residencies are an ideal opportunity for you to complete a specific project, commission, or prototype within a limited amount of time.
We host one ceramics and one metals micro-resident at a time. Micro-residents receive an all-access pass to our 10,000 square foot studio, tools, resources, and community. You’ll forge, mold, weld, shape, and create in a shared studio space alongside a cohort of artists and makers who work in the industrial arts. Additionally, you’ll participate in events and sales, exhibit work, have access to professional development opportunities, teach and take courses, as well and take part in cross-departmental critiques.

This program is the heart of IAA, modeling our values of global community building.
