Montenez Lowery, with a bachelor’s in Photography from Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design, is a multidisciplinary Black American artist and writer working in Atlanta, GA. Lowery’s practice explores Black identity, memory, and loss. Interested in photographic material and working primarily with alternative photographic processes, his most recent body of work critiques colonial infrastructures and the role photography played in constructing Black identity and the nature of cultural appropriation today.
