Nato Thompson Gave Us a Preview of Flux Night

We recently sat down with Nato Thompson, curator of Creative Time in New York, who’s putting his signature punch behind this year’s Flux Night. Sitting outside Condesa Coffee, at the busy corner of Boulevard and Freedom Parkway. Thompson shared his plans for the October 3 event, which will be located for the first time in the Old Fourth Ward, which he selected for its rich Civil Rights history. Thompson has structured the event around the theme “Dream” for the one-night exhibition, which will feature works by 13 artists and collectives. In addition to observations on place, history, ephemerality, urbanization, and Kara Walker’s Domino Sugar factory commission, he talked about Flux projects by Sheila Pree Bright, Jessica Scott-Felder, The Question Bridge, Jennifer Wen Ma, and Otabenga Jones.
