Artadia, a nonprofit grantmaking organization and nationwide community of visual artists, curators, and patrons, has announced the recipients of the 2023 Atlanta Artadia Awards - Jessica Caldas; Stefanie Jackson; and Nneka Kai.
In honor of Native American Heritage Day, Burnaway revisits Eric Halvarson's reflection on speculative fiction and the ruderal realities of Indigenous communities in Boone, North Carolina and throughout Appalachia.
“Place is important to my work, coming from a place that is determined in other people’s imagination,” said Joiri Minaya, a multidisciplinary artist from the Dominican Republic. Minaya’s work engages with Camouflage, one of Burnaway’s 2023 themes.
