Laura Flusche, executive director of the Museum of Design Atlanta, has been accepted to the Getty Leadership Institute for Museum Professionals (GLI). She will attend the program’s three-week Executive Education Program for Museum Leaders at Claremont Graduate University in June 2014.

According to the GLI: “Museum leaders face evolving challenges with rapidly changing technologies, shifting philanthropy, and emerging global audiences. Today’s museum leaders are connectors who cultivate skills in management, persuasion, and self-awareness to work effectively with their staff, boards, and wider audiences. In response, GLI offers opportunities to blend theory and practice, synergizing connections at the individual, institutional, and societal levels.”

Former program participants (and their current affiliations) have included Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art president Don Bacigalupi (1996) and executive director Rod Bigelow (2012); Spelman College Museum of Fine Art director Andrea Barnwell Brownlee (2003); High Museum director of collections and exhibitions David A. Brenneman (2004); CDC Sencer Museum curator Louise E. Shaw (1985).
