BURNAWAY is pleased to present a collaborative project by Gabrielle Duggan (Atlanta) and Neill Prewitt (Raleigh, NC). Their video projection, titled Consensus Reality, will be shown nightly in the storefront window of the BURNAWAY offices tonight through June 20.
Consensus Reality is a musical in which multiple personal mythologies coexist: hers and his, the archetypal and the everyday, the silent and the vocal, on location and green screen, durational and collaged, the authentic and masquerade, folk and rock ‘n roll.
Created through partnership and individual isolation, Consensus Reality juxtaposes two individuals’ struggles against “consensus reality” as they perform inherited roles and push against crippling self-surveillance.
The project is an attempt to expose the invisible forces of reality, explore identity through performance, and seek a new community.
If you can’t make it to Castleberry Hill, watch the video here (with audio)!
“Consensus Reality” is made possible by a grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
