BURNAWAY is pleased to announce the hiring of Stephanie Cash as its new Editor. Cash comes to BURNAWAY with almost 20 years’ of experience at Art in America magazine, and most recently has been a visual arts reviewer and journalist for Atlanta-based online publication ArtsATL.com.
“We are thrilled to have the experience and breadth of knowledge that Stephanie brings and are confident that she will propel the organization and publication forward as we begin our strategic planning process and move into a more mature phase of the organization,” says BURNAWAY Executive Director Susannah Darrow.
“I’m very excited to join BURNAWAY at this pivotal moment,” Cash says. “I’ve admired Susannah’s dedication and enthusiasm in galvanizing the city’s art scene, along with that of cofounder Jeremy Abernathy and former editor Rachel Reese. In the almost two years that I’ve lived here, I’ve watched the site gain momentum and solidify its reputation as an invaluable resource. I look forward to expanding BURNAWAY’s influence to the greater Southeast. I’m eager to put on my editor’s hat again, to work with existing BURNAWAY writers and cultivate new contributors. BURNAWAY will continue to be a go-to source for news, useful information, critical thought, and insightful commentary.”
“We look forward to the editorial direction and wealth of experience that Stephanie will bring to BURNAWAY,” says BURNAWAY Board Chair, Chris McClure.
“This is a perfect time for us to welcome Stephanie as we enter a tremendous time of growth for the organization in our fifth year of operation,” Darrow says. “This year marks the expansion of BURNAWAY’s program to cover the Southeastern United States and the release of our first print publication. Our public educational programs will continue to expand to include regional partnerships over the next 24 months. The first phase of our website redesign was launched this past month and we are excited to work with Stephanie as we plan for the second phase of that development.”
