We wish a million heart-shaped blessings upon everyone who participated in BURNAWAY’s Art Crush Cohost Contest. After roughly a week of deliberation, we selected our top three videos which are posted above.
Although the competition was formidable, we couldn’t resist Jason Kofke’s deadpan hyperbole in his 1st place-winning audition. We still can barely hold back the laughter as he describes his admiration for fellow artist Craig Drennen and explains the reasons why Kofke would make the perfect sidekick. His costuming and props were also a plus: three outfits complete with ties (a tribute to Drennen’s professorial attire) and a table superfluously set outdoors with a banana and a green apple (most likely a poor-man’s homage to Andy Warhol and Yoko Ono, respectively). Bravo!

Kofke will appear along with our 2nd place winner, the puppet known as Norbert, at the BURNAWAY Art Crush Bash fundraiser and volunteer services auction at 7 Stages Theatre at 7-10PM, Saturday, February 25, 2012 (click here for the event on Facebook). Norbert submitted his video at the urging of his “manager,” local musician and puppeteer David Stephens.

Of course, anyone who can decipher the message in Nathan Sharratt’s 3rd place-winning video also deserves a trophy. He encrypted his application by way of blinking his eyes in time with Morse code. What!?
The mystery remains: What the hell is Sharratt trying to say? Use the comments space below to tell us your best guess!
