February reminders:
1. Hammonds House Museum’s Art Noir Auction
Deadline: This Friday, February 18
Hammonds House Museum calls for submissions for its Art Noir Auction to be submitted by February 18 for display to the public on April 30. In support of the museum and its programming, 60 percent of the auction’s proceeds will go towards Hammonds House and its programs, “[giving] patrons and collectors an opportunity to support both the artists’ careers and the museum’s mission.” Artists’ bios and information will be printed in the auction booklet, and they will have their works displayed on a special website gallery. Additionally, one artist will be given a Merit Award and solo exhibition at the Hammonds House Museum in 2012. Listed below are the submission guidelines:
“Submit no more than two entries by disc or email (artauction@hammondshouse.org). Image format should be jpeg. (DO NOT submit actual artwork for jury process.) Label image file with the artist’s name, title, medium, dimensions, value, and starting bid. Include: Submitter’s name, address, phone, email and website, if applicable. NO COMMERCIAL REPRODUCTIONS ALLOWED.

[Updated] 2. MOCA GA Working Artist Project awards
$12,000 stipend, solo exhibition, and more
Deadline: This Saturday, February 19
Michael Rooks, curator of modern and contemporary art at the High Museum, joins Annette Cone Skelton of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) in selecting three artists for the 2011 Working Artist Project awards. Each award includes a $12,000 stipend, a paid studio assistant for up to 300 hours during the year of the project, and a solo exhibition at MOCA GA, among other perks. Click here for more info.

4. ACP Public Art 2011 request for proposals
$10,000
Deadline: February 28
As a part of their annual October festival, Atlanta Celebrates Photography is looking “for proposals that take advantage of public art’s ability to reach new audiences, and to create an experience that is a dynamic hybrid of art in the public sphere.” Entries should be “lens-based” (images or video captured by a lens, or works utilizing light sensitivity as a key component), and the winning proposals will receive a $10,000 budget to complete their works. March deadlines:
1. Art on the Beltline temporary work proposals
Up to $4,000
Public workshops: February 17-23
Deadline: March 28
Atlanta Beltline, Inc. is accepting submissions for temporary works of visual and performing art for this year’s Art on the Atlanta Beltline public art initiative. The event will be held from September through November in order to “engage more artists, to bring more Atlantans into the corridor, to merge art with landscape and to ensure that the Atlanta BeltLine is enjoyed by all.” Project proposals may include installations, visitor amenities such as benches and shade structures, games sites, performance art, and other works. 2. Creative Capital grants for film/video and visual arts
Deadline: March 1
Up to $50,000 plus career development services
Originally founded under the umbrella of The Andy Warhol Foundation, Creative Capital provides awards of up to $50,000 in direct funding, plus an additional suite of career development services valued at $37,000, to adventurous projects in five disciplines: emerging fields, film/video, innovative literature, performing arts, and visual arts. This year’s call for proposals seeks projects in two categories: film/video and visual arts. See the Creative Capital website for more info.
3. Frieze Art Fair EMDASH Award
£10,000
Deadline: March 7
In replacement of the Cartier Award, the Frieze Foundation will present the EMDASH Award to “an emerging artist working outside the UK to realise a new work at Frieze Art Fair as part of the critically acclaimed Frieze Projects programme.” Site-specific installations, performance, film, video, or print work may be submitted for judging based “on the innovative nature of [the] proposal and its suitability for realisation at Frieze Art Fair.” Visit the Frieze Foundation website for more details.
